Interview Eugene

This week on Cooking Chatter we will be making some lovely dishes… Wait, wrong website, this week is the interview I did with Eugene Sax and that previous reference will all make sense once you have read it. So without further ado here it is.

Then let’s kick this interview off with what I ask everyone, what is your name and age?

My name is Eugene Sax and I’m 21 years old.

Where do you come from and where do you live now (if it is different)?

I live in the tiny town of Thornville, OH, but I’m currently in Athens, OH while getting my college out of the way.

You don’t sound that enthusiastic about your studies?

I do like college, but college has mostly been for meeting new people and making connections as opposed to learning. So far, everything I have learned has been outside the classroom.

What do you study at college?

I’m studying Game Design.

So have you produced any games at all?

Working on it. I’m making a space shooter right now for a class. Perhaps in the summer here soon I can start making other games since I will have a little more time on my hands to focus on that instead of other school work.

Well that could be good, keep us all updated on how that game comes along and any other games you create.

Can do!

Let’s now turn our attention to how your love of gaming got started?

It started way back when I was younger. My cousin and I always used to play Super Mario 3 and Contra on the NES together. I always enjoyed playing both of them. As I got older, I wanted games of my own to play instead of just playing games that my friends had. I did extra chores around the house so I could save up and finally bought my own.

What did you get with your first console?

First console was a Sega Genesis. It stole a lot of my free time allowed on the games with Street Fighter, Shining Force, Sonic the Hedgehog, etc.

All great games. How did you join Gamer Chatter? Was it due to Amy joining the website?

You read my mind sir. Amy did start before I did. I was interested in the writing side of gaming, but never really got into it myself. She suggested I try writing for the site though, telling me about the lack of Xbox writers. I gave it a shot. I wrote up a review of a game I had finished recently, sent it in, and Viola! I became a writer for Gamer Chatter.

What was that game?

Borderlands 2.

A fine choice though I have still yet to buy it, Do you have any hobbies outside of gaming?

Minus creating games myself, I enjoy writing and reading. I’m a sucker for a good story, in or out of video games. Also cooking, I’m a bit of a foodie.

What is your favourite dish to make?

Favorite dish? Hmm… Probably the old classic: Steak and Potatoes. Can’t go wrong with that.

True, how do you cook the potatoes?

Normally just a nice baked potato. Mashed on occasion as well is a good pairing.

Baked potato is alright I guess but mashed is much better.

More work for mashed as opposed to Baked, but I do agree with you on that account.

It is worth the effort. Let’s turn our attention back to games before people think they have logged on to Cooking Chatter by accident. What are some of your favourite games?

True enough, although Cooking Chatter would be interesting. Anyway, some of my favorites would be the Final fantasy series, Super Smash Bros. Bioshock, Sonic the Hedgehog… The list can go on, but those are the big ones.

Why those games?

Sonic was one of the first I played, Smash Bros: How can you go wrong with a game where you can play as Pikachu and beat up Mario to your heart’s content? Final Fantasy and Bioshock had fantastic stories that stuck with me long after I played them.

Any particular Final Fantasy game you like the most?

8 has been the one that stuck with me the most. 7 was fantastic, but everyone says 7 is best. 10 was very good as well, but not quite like 8. I was able to relate a lot to Squall as opposed to other characters of the series. I still need to dive into FF9 when I get the chance.

Well I think that brings us to the end of the interview. Is there anything else you would like to add?

You can find me on Xbox, PSN, or Steam at Azoth_of-Flame. My twitter is @eugene_sax. I’m always look for more people to play with or just talk shop with. This community is fantastic and I’d love to game with everyone more!

Well thank you for taking the time to do this interview.

Anytime.

Great interview! Also, Eugene has to release his space shooter game on this website, it would be awesome. And Cooking Chatter needs to be a real thing.
