MegaMan 25th Anniversary Collection
Flashman Studios has announced the launch of the Mega Man 25th Anniversary Collection. Developed in 1987 by Capcom, Mega Man is one of the video game industry’s most recognizable and popular icons. For those of us that were hoping for a new Mega Man game, prepare to have your dreams crushed unfortunately.
Mega Man‘s role in the original game is to battle the mad scientist Dr. Wily and his ever-growing army of robots. Mega Man wants to stop them from taking over the planet by using their own special powers against them. Utilizing his Mega Buster arm cannon and his unique ability to take on a defeated robot’s special power, Mega Man must travel the world and overcome harsh environments in order to bring Dr. Wily’s menace to an end. With the help of his creator Dr. Light and his assorted “good” robotic companions, Mega Man‘s goal is to one day achieve everlasting peace.
A post on Capcom-Unity by Christian Svensson, Capcom’s Senior Vice President of strategic planning and business development, warns fans to “keep their expectations in check” when it comes to any announcements regarding a new game starring the beloved Blue Bomber.
Svensson’s full statement reads:
“In December ‘some but not all’ plans for the coming year of celebrations will be shared. There are many moving parts and not everything will be done and final come December. No one has promised a game or even an announcement of one at that time. Please do keep expectations in check.”
The Mega Man 25th Anniversary Collection will include:
- 7 avatar outfits – Mega Man, Elec Man, Fire Man, Cut Man, Guts Man, Ice Man, and Bomb Man
- Mega Man Helmet
- Mega Man’s Mega Buster Prop – includes animations that show off classic Mega Man movements
- 8-bit Mega Man T-shirt
- Mega Man 25th Anniversary T-shirt
“We are very excited about the Mega Man 25th Anniversary Collection. We are honored to work with Capcom on this commemorative offering,” said Brad Young, CEO, Flashman Studios.
Stay tuned for more info on this developing story. One can only hope they make a new Mega Man game, or at least bring back Mega Man Legends 3!
